Forever Open.

A pilgrim's companion.

Non-Profit Focused Project 2024–2025
The Engagement

60 days to Jubilee.

OneHope commissioned us to build a digital companion for pilgrims visiting Rome during the Year of Jubilee 2025. The vision: a web app that would guide visitors through sacred sites, offering devotionals, guided prayers, and interactive audio experiences—all accessible by scanning QR codes throughout Vatican City.

The timeline was aggressive. From initial conversation to delivery in under 60 days. We needed to ship a polished, scalable, multilingual experience before pilgrims started arriving.

They provided the UI designs and content requirements. We delivered everything else—development, optimization, and infrastructure to handle tens of thousands of concurrent users.

The Experience

Sacred sites, in your pocket.

A full progressive web app—no download required. Pilgrims scan a QR code and instantly access location-specific content, devotionals, and guided prayers.

The Features

A journey, not just a tour.

10 Sacred Locations

From St. Peter's Basilica to the Colosseum, each site features video clips, interactive audio, and guided prayers tailored to that location's spiritual significance.

7-Day Progressive Journey

Fresh daily devotionals unlock over time, guiding pilgrims through a week-long spiritual experience with thought, scripture, and actionable reflection.

Location Check-Ins

As pilgrims visit sites, the app tracks their journey and surfaces contextual content—unpacking what they've experienced when they return home.

2 Curated Routes

"A Priceless Inheritance" and "Hope Through Trials"—themed pilgrimage paths connecting sites through narrative and spiritual meaning.

The Challenge

Ship fast. Scale bigger.

60 days isn't much time to build a multilingual web app that needs to handle unpredictable traffic spikes. We chose WordPress as the CMS backend—not for simplicity, but for speed of iteration. The content team needed to manage devotionals, translations, and location data without waiting on developers.

For scale, we deployed through Cloudflare's CDN, ensuring the app would remain fast and reliable whether accessed from Vatican City Wi-Fi or mobile networks across five languages.

The Delivery
10 Sacred Locations
5 Languages
7 Day Journey
60 Day Sprint

Delivered on time for Jubilee 2025. A complete pilgrim companion—video, audio, interactive maps, location tracking, progressive devotionals—built to scale for the millions of visitors expected in Rome throughout the holy year.

The Outcome

Live in the Eternal City.

Forever Open launched in time for Jubilee 2025 and continues to serve pilgrims throughout the holy year. QR codes placed at locations across Vatican City and Rome connect visitors to a spiritual experience that extends far beyond what they can see with their eyes.

Sometimes the best technology is invisible. It just works—on any device, in any language, at any sacred site.
